Peace and Poetry!

It is a poets responsibility to do the will of God.
It is their responsibity to inform non-mbers of their society.
They are teachers and instructors of the real essence of their culture.
Poets are to give us prophetic word.
Poets duties are to touch the blinded eyes and command them to see.
They are to heal the broken hearted and uninformed.
Poets mission should be missionaries that stretch forth their hands and perform miracles of bringing the dead to life.
They are the voice of a higher power.
Poets preach the divine word of truth, their truth, which is the real truth.
Colorblind is their mission, coming from a color stricken entity.
Without the poet who will carry the WORD!
Yes We Speak
we speak now
do you hear?
our voices are powerful
where are your ears?
the children are listening
what do you say to them?
why do you ask if your words matter?
Results of your words are dropping like tropical rainfalls.
we speak
who listens?
you’re concerned if we hear you
like you, we are speaking
but in vain
cuz your words are gaizing
maybe if we both paused at the stop lights
being at opposite ends one green light would guide either one of us forward
leaving one stopped and yielding to the words of the other.
the truth is we are both speaking
but both at once
the truth is neither of us are listening
cuz we’ve both got too damn much to say.
The role of the black family in the black community should be strong, but presently we are faced with family members killing, robbing and stealing from one another. There is no unity which is causing issues within the black community. If my brother is not going to respect me then how can I expect for the next man to? I see so many black children suffering because of their parents showing little of no attention to them, their issues and their education. I go into title 1 schools everyday to offer free tutoring to parents and out of the entire school in that particular area there maybe 20 parents that will show some interest. It is sad to see. The parents are the stepping stone for our future. If they are not living a life of unity then they are creating a curse within their home and the community. It will become a generational issue and throughout the years the black community will continue to fall.
I love the fact that we have a black presidential candidate that exhibts what unity looks like with his family. He includes his wife and children in his triumphs and failures, and to me that is what the black community needs to see.
Hopefully this is the beginning of the end to a generational curse with our black families and communities.
My comment is in response to Michael Lee’s poem Yes We Speak. There are many of times we may say things and feel like our talking is all in vain. Its not that what we are saying is going in vain its just that we seem to hear only what we want to hear. Even then we have the tendency to interpret words however we feel they should be. When speaking we have to be careful because a lot of times what we do not realize is that our words turn in to actions which allows others to hear by seeing. I personally feel it is okay for us to speak but we must choose our words wisely and keep an open mind to others speaking around us.
